I have the advantage of being a parent of students currently in elementary, middle, high school, and college. Like you, I’ve been the nervous but enthusiastic kindergarten parent. I’ve wondered at how time flies as my fifth grader walks out of the elementary school for the last time. I’ve worried about my child’s 504 meeting. I’ve felt struggle of middle school friendships, and the excitement of starting high school. I’ve known the stress of driver’s ed, AP classes, college applications, and finals. And I’ve been overcome with pride as my senior walks across the stage to receive her diploma. These collective moments help me relate to parents at every stage, and give me a deep understanding for the tough times we all face.
